About South Florida State College
South Florida State College is a public state college in the Florida College System, serving about 3,000 students across its Highlands Campus in Avon Park and additional locations in Arcadia, Bowling Green, and Lake Placid. Founded in 1965 and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, SFSC serves the three-county district of Highlands, Hardee, and DeSoto.
BDI delivers FOA fiber optic certification classes at South Florida State College through the college continuing education program. Fiber optics is offered within SFSC’s Corporate and Community Education division, with BDI providing the instructor, curriculum, and all training equipment.
How Registration Works
Register through South Florida State College’s Corporate Education and Training program. Students can enroll and pay at any SFSC campus or center in Avon Park, Lake Placid, Arcadia, or Bowling Green, or by phone with a credit card.
Getting Here
The Highlands Campus sits in Avon Park along US Highway 27 in central Florida’s Highlands County, with Sebring about 5 miles to the south. Out-of-town students find lodging along US 27, including the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sebring and the Econo Lodge in Avon Park.
