About BDI San Antonio

San Antonio is one of the fastest-growing fiber markets in Texas. AT&T and Spectrum fiber now reach the majority of the metro, Google Fiber keeps adding neighborhoods on the northeast side, and GVTC has built fiber-to-the-home across the northern suburbs and Hill Country. That much construction and turn-up work needs technicians who can terminate, splice, and certify fiber to standard, which is why BDI DataLynk runs classes in the San Antonio area.

BDI DataLynk is an FOA-Approved fiber optic certification school (FOA #208) that has trained technicians since 1999. In San Antonio, BDI runs the FiberOptiX Bootcamp, which earns three FOA certifications in one week: CFOT, CFOS/T, and CFOS/S. The training is hands-on, taught by a BDI instructor with the equipment brought on site. BDI does not own the venue. It delivers classes at a professional training facility in the metro and rotates through scheduled dates.

Getting Here

Classes are held in Boerne, a Hill Country suburb northwest of San Antonio, right off Interstate 10. It is about 30 miles and a 40-minute drive from downtown San Antonio, and roughly 28 miles from San Antonio International Airport, so it is an easy trip for students coming from across the metro or flying in. Several hotels sit within minutes of the venue along I-10, including the Hampton Inn & Suites Boerne and the Best Western Boerne Inn & Suites, both convenient for out-of-town students. Downtown Boerne’s Hill Country Mile, with its shops and restaurants, is a short drive away.
