About Kingsborough Community College

Kingsborough Community College is a CUNY community college on an oceanfront peninsula in the Manhattan Beach neighborhood of Brooklyn. Part of the City University of New York since 1963 and accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, Kingsborough serves roughly 8,500 degree-seeking students along with more than 20,000 enrolled annually in non-credit workforce development and continuing education programs.

BDI DataLynk delivers FOA fiber optic certification classes at Kingsborough through the college’s Division of Workforce Development, Strategic Partnerships, and Office of Continuing Education. Kingsborough is one of BDI’s most established New York partners, with a long history of classes on this campus. BDI provides the instructor, curriculum, and all training equipment, and students can earn the CFOT, CFOS/T, and CFOS/S certifications, including all three together in the FiberOptiX Bootcamp.

How Registration Works

Fiber optic certification classes at Kingsborough are registered through the college’s continuing education program. When you register, you enroll as a non-credit student at Kingsborough. The college handles enrollment and facilities, while BDI delivers the hands-on training. Visit Kingsborough Continuing Education to register, then use the “Register Now” option to view current offerings.

Getting Here

The campus sits at the eastern end of Oriental Boulevard on the Manhattan Beach peninsula, surrounded by water on three sides. By subway and bus, take the B or Q train to Sheepshead Bay and transfer to the eastbound B49, or the B or Q to Brighton Beach and transfer to the eastbound B1. Both buses run directly to the campus entrance. Drivers reach the campus from the Belt Parkway at Exit 8 (Coney Island Avenue). On-campus parking is available for a modest per-semester fee on a first-come, first-served basis.
