About SUNY Ulster

SUNY Ulster, formally Ulster County Community College, is a public community college in the State University of New York system. Founded in 1961 and accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the college serves the Hudson Valley from its main campus in Stone Ridge and its Kingston Center, with a focus on workforce and career training through its Continuing Education and Professional Development division.

BDI DataLynk delivers FOA fiber optic certification classes at SUNY Ulster’s Kingston Center through that division. This is BDI’s most active New York location. Alongside the FiberOptiX Bootcamp, which earns three certifications in one week, SUNY Ulster uniquely runs standalone CFOS/O Outside Plant and CFOS/H FTTH specialist classes, giving Hudson Valley technicians a path to add advanced certifications close to home.

How Registration Works

Fiber optic certification classes at SUNY Ulster are registered through the college’s Continuing Education and Professional Development program. When you register, you are enrolling as a non-credit student at SUNY Ulster. BDI provides the instructor, curriculum, and all training equipment, while the college handles enrollment and facilities and may offer workforce development funding for eligible students and employers. SUNY Ulster accepts registration online, by phone, in person, and by mail.

Getting Here

The Kingston Center is in the city of Kingston, the seat of Ulster County, roughly two hours north of New York City and about an hour south of Albany. Kingston sits right on the New York State Thruway, I-87, at Exit 19, which makes the drive in straightforward and the area an easy travel destination for out-of-town students. Adirondack Trailways runs intercity bus service into Kingston. Nearby hotels at and around Exit 19 include the Best Western Plus Kingston Hotel and Conference Center, the Courtyard by Marriott Kingston, the Hampton Inn Kingston, and the Quality Inn, all within a short drive of the campus and the historic Uptown Stockade District.
