About Collin College

Collin College is a public community college district founded in 1985 and the only public college based in Collin County, Texas. Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), it serves roughly 60,000 credit and continuing education students each year across 10 locations plus its iCollin online platform, with more than 200 degrees and certificates.

BDI DataLynk delivers FOA fiber optic certification classes at Collin College through the college’s Continuing Education division. Classes are held at the college’s Plano Campus (also known as the Spring Creek Campus), at 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway. BDI provides the instructor, curriculum, and training equipment, while the college handles enrollment and facilities.

How Registration Works

Fiber optic certification classes at Collin College are registered through the college’s Continuing Education division. These are non-credit, job-ready industry certifications, and community students enroll through the MyLearning online portal. Offerings include the Certified Fiber Optics Technician (CFOT) and Certified Fiber Optics Specialist tracks in Testing and Maintenance (CFOS/T), Splicing (CFOS/S), and Outside Plant (CFOS/O).

The Plano Campus sits in the Dallas North Tollway and U.S. 75 (Central Expressway) corridor near the President George Bush Turnpike, making it easy to reach from across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Out-of-town students have several lodging options nearby along the US-75 corridor, including Holiday Inn Express & Suites Dallas – Plano North, Home2 Suites by Hilton Plano Richardson, and Quality Inn & Suites.
