About Rockland Community College

Rockland Community College is part of the State University of New York system, serving roughly 5,000 students on a 175-acre campus in Suffern, about 25 miles northwest of New York City. Founded in 1959 and accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the college offers associate degrees and certificate programs across five academic schools, plus a workforce development division focused on short-term, career-focused training.

BDI DataLynk delivers FOA fiber optic certification classes at Rockland Community College through the college’s workforce development program. BDI provides the instructor, curriculum, and all training equipment, while the college handles enrollment and facilities. The FiberOptiX Bootcamp earns three certifications in one week, CFOT, CFOS/T, and CFOS/S, and individual certification classes are also offered depending on the schedule.

When classes are scheduled, you register through Rockland Community College’s workforce development program. You enroll as a non-credit workforce student, and the college’s Economic Mobility and Workforce Innovation division handles registration. The division is known for flexible scheduling, small class sizes, and grant or scholarship assistance that may be available for eligible students.

Getting Here

The campus sits near the New York and New Jersey border in Rockland County, close to the New York State Thruway (I-87, Exit 14B) and Route 17, with I-287 nearby. It is an easy drive from across the lower Hudson Valley, northern New Jersey, and New York City. Out-of-town students can reach the area through Metro-North connections via Hudson Link bus service or the Haverstraw-Ossining ferry. Nearby hotels include the Crowne Plaza Suffern Mahwah, the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Suffern, and several options in nearby Nanuet.
