Fiber Optics Tools You Should have Right Now!

Visual Fault Locater (Red Light Laser)

"The universal adapter accepts any 2.5mm ferrule,
allowing 650nm laser light to be injected into a fiber.
This light enables breaks or sharp bends in a cable to
be identified 6-7km away on single mode fiber, 4-5km
away on multi mode fiber. Do not point it at low-flying
helicopters - you might get one pointed back at you!"
"This little guy is one of my favorites. Just strip off a bit of buffer, clean the glass and insert it in to
the "connector" while depressing the button. Works great when testing fiber for fiber continuity on
those good days when common sense is prevailing."
"The Miller cable splitters are manually operated cutting devices designed for fast, safe and precise
jacket removal of PE, PVC and rubber jacket. This is a bi-directional tool that will make the removal of
cable jacket much easier than using your pocket knife. Pocket knifes are much better at removing
fingers and other extremities. Get the 4.5 - 29 mm unit"

"This little guy is one of the coolest tools yet! Just strip off a bit of buffer, clean the
glass and insert it in to the "connector" while depressing the button. Works great
when testing fiber for fiber continuity on those good days when common sense is
prevailing."
"This inexpensive tool will do ST, SC, and FC style connectors from most any
manufacturer. You never know when you are going to have to touch up a
connector in the field. Trying to hold the connector perpendicular when
polishing is just not going to cut it - so to speak!"

"This two part system self-cures in minutes with no heat required. The retaining compound is injected into the connector with a syringe needle.
Dip (I would rather spray it because dipping causes fiber breakage and spillage) or spray the fiber with primer and connectorize as usual. Sets
up in seconds, fully cured in minutes. BUT! You can not go out the night before and party. No early morning mass quantities of coffee either!
You have to have a steady hand, a keen eye and, most importantly - you have to hold your mouth right or you are going to be throwing your
connectors in the trash. Do not blame me, the company, or the stuff if you waste connectors. It consists of Loctite 680 Hardner and Loctite
7649 Primer. Total Price should be about 20 bucks from your favorite distributor."
"The above product can be purchased from distributors such as Anixter or Graybar
due to restricted shipment laws of hazardous materials We ship it with the
Mini-Term Kit but not separately.

Miller Strippers
"Bob says that, 'You have to hold your mouth right to make these things work.' Well--- he's RIGHT! But once you start holding your mouth right the
Miller Stripper is an exceptional tool for stripping 250µm coated loose tube fiber and 900µm buffer tube. The Miller Stripper has a .0055 (0.14mm)
laser drilled hole, soft plastic-cushioned handle grip, and super accurate hardened stripping jaws, insuring smooth clean stripping action. Be sure
you adjust the jaws when you receive them and I had better not see you stripping the insulation off that copper stuff with them either!"
